BEFORE YOU RUN IT

Check it for yourself.

It’s reasonable to be careful with a downloaded executable. Here are a few ways to take a closer look at Monchi.

A Windows warning?

The launcher is currently unsigned. Windows may show “Windows protected your PC” or an unknown-publisher warning when an app lacks a trusted signature or enough reputation.

A reputation warning is not the same as a malware detection. Neither should be treated as proof that a file is safe. If your antivirus detects a threat, investigate it before running the file.

Microsoft’s explanation ↗

Check the actual download.

Use VirusTotal to search the downloaded file’s SHA-256 hash or upload the exact .exe from GitHub Releases. Scan results apply to that file, not every Monchi release.

We haven’t linked a verified release report yet. A clean report is useful evidence, not a safety guarantee. Public uploads may be shared with security vendors; don’t upload personal files.

Open VirusTotal ↗

Read the source.

Once the GitHub repository is public, you can inspect the code yourself or ask Claude or Codex to review the release tag. Ask about downloads, update checks, DLL injection, file access and data sent over the network.

The launcher loads the client DLL into Minecraft to add its interface and modules. Source review and AI review can miss problems; neither proves that a downloaded .exe matches the code.

Review the code on GitHub ↗
A prompt you can use for a code review

Review https://github.com/Lizziies/Mochi-3-Client at the exact tag for the release I downloaded. Inspect the launcher, DLL, update flow and build workflow for security risks, executable downloads, injection behavior, file access and network data. Cite files and lines, distinguish expected client behavior from suspicious behavior, and explain what remains unverified. Do not claim the binary is safe or matches the source without evidence.

Download from the linked GitHub Releases page. Keep Windows security protections enabled. If you’re unsure, wait for a review before running the client.
